“… the biggest in recorded history.”

I heard this on the “60 Minutes” television program.

Problem:
The adjective “recorded” is redundant for this sentence.

Explanation:
The noun “history” essentially means a record of past events.

So (quote) “recorded history” (unquote) would be translated to a recorded [sic] record of past events.

Solution:
“… the biggest in history.”
